Bottle Gourd (sorakkai ) Curry
Sorakkai is also called as bottle gourd. It is a popular vegetable light green smooth skin outside and white inside. This bottle gourd vegetable is common in north and south India. In north India they will call as laukee & they will make curry or side dish for chapathi,roti using laukee. In south India sorakkai is added as one of the vegetable in sambar. sorakkai kootu is very famous receipe in Tamilnadu which is prepared using the combination of moongdal and sorakkai.
Bottle gourd has lots of medicinal benefits it balances the body temperature and keeps the body hydrated. The juice of sorakkai is good medicine for stomach acidity, indigestion , diarrheoa. It also balances the sugar level in blood and keeps it control. If we take this bottlegourd juice regularly means it keeps our skin hydrated. It contains vitamins & potassium many of us don't like to eat but when i tried this way for first time i really loved this receipe it goes good with steamed rice. for this receipe we are going to prepare one roasted masala its from the inspiration of my mom's mutton curry just the way i tried for bottlegourd too. By roasting pepper,sombu,jeera,cinnamon in a ry kadai then ad shre coconut roast it till golden brown then grind it smooth paste it add the flavours to the curry. Now lets check out the receipe.....
Ingredients
bottle gourd - 1
onion - medium size 2
tomato - 2
garlic - 4
pepper - 1 tsp
jeera -1 tsp
sombu - 1 tsp
cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
coconut - 1/2 cup
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
chilli powder - 1 tsp
coriander powder - 2 tsp
sesame oil - 2 tsp
salt - as required

Take a kadai dry roast pepper,jeera,sombu,cinnamon
